Background

MAN Commercial ProtectionMan Protection Guard is a nationwide provider of security services which includes a wide variety of services being delivered to a range of sectors. The company holds SIA Approved Contractor Status and works to the highest recognised industry standards as demanded by the police, fire and rescue services and insurance industry.

The Challenge

MAN Commercial Protection was looking to replace existing guard tour patrol devices that no longer net the needs of the business. The company wanted to adopt an advanced workforce management solution that would help better manage and monitor around 100 mobile and manned guards whilst onsite at customer locations.

The Solution

SmartTask Attend Security & Mobile Guard was chosen for a trial with its key holding and alarm response officers as it met the criteria for tracking and logging time at locations and checkpoints as well as giving real-time reporting alongside a secure customer portal which enables customers to see in real-time which actions have been taken. Alongside meeting the criteria, SmartTask Attend Security & Mobile Guard includes the ability to program location tags with the relevant risk assessment information safely and confidentially, while allowing visiting officers immediate access to the information.

The Benefits

MAN Commercial Protection selected Skillweb’s SmartTask, suitable for android smartphones, following a successful trial which helped deliver service improvements through greater workforce visibility and control. During the pilot the mobile application proved to be a highly simple, flexible and user friendly solution that provided access to real-time and historical data to provide complete transparency of all guards operating remotely.

Using strategically-located NFC tags (the same technology used for contactless payment and electronic ticket smartcards such as Oyster) and QR codes, guards have to simply swipe over their mobile device over each unique tag to effectively log time, GPS location and activity onsite. This has enabled office-based controllers and customers to monitor the status of guards and confirm the completion of scheduled visits and rounds via a web-based portal. MAN Commercial Protection also uses SmartTask to generate working time and customer reports by operative or location.
